Hi everyone,
I just joined GU and I am also a new owner of 2 crested geckos. I just happened to see them while at a pet store and did some research and decided to get some. Still learning as I go, but so far my crested geckos seem to be enjoying themselves. I'm really interested into hearing what others say about their geckos and I will be posting for help if I run into any problems. I bought a large 40 gallon tank and currently have a male and female in it (they're maybe 8-10 weeks old) and hoping to get another female or two. I also have a goldfish tank, cichlid tank and two cats.

Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome to GU!

If your cresties are only 8-10 weeks old then I'm afraid there's no way to know for sure that one is female- male geckos sometimes may not develop pores or bulges until almost 20 grams in size.

You'll need to keep a very close eye on your two to make sure they are getting along and both growing at an even pace. If one starts growing more quickly than the other (which is very common), then they'll need to be separated. They'll also need to be separated at about 5-7 grams so the one that might be a female won't end up being bullied or bred prematurely. Also- she may end up a "he," and two males usually will not get along. Female cresties are not sexually mature till at least 18 months old and should be at least 35 grams before being placed with a male.

Welcome to the forums! It's a great place to beginners and old timers alike. Laura Lee sure is one of those peeps on here who knows her cresties. Take her advice. Pictures of your new cuties?
