Talking New to forum and geckos!

Hi everyone!
I've decided to join this forum in order to learn more about geckos before I decide which gecko I want to start with.
I'm currently looking at an L. Williamsi or a gold dust day gecko... I am sure in time I will have a terrarium for both. But I want to start off with one or the other and have been contemplating between the two for months now, along with doing all kinds of research. My local reptile store (where I also got 2 of my red eye tree frogs) has had one male williamsi in for months now. They also have adults and cbb gold dust day geckos that they breed in store available. I know there is a slight size difference between the two species and for the most part the care is the same. I have a 12x12x18 terrarium on hand for a single gecko, at the time... My problem is I just need to decide.

Anyone have any info on the two species or keep either and want to share? Would love to hear what everyone thinks

I'm sort of leaning toward the williamsi, just because I hear how rare it is that pet stores get them in. And I'd love to have a male/female pair eventually, of whichever gecko I decide.

Thanks for any advise, thoughts and ideas!

Welcome to GU!
I would probably take the L. williamsi. They are very pretty. At least that's my personal preference. I have no experience with either however....
Good luck with your new addition when you get it! Post pictures when you do.

Welcome to GU!

If you're new to geckos, I'd probably start off with a pair of Gold Dust. They're a bit hardier, much easier to find, and much less expensive than L. williamsi.

Thanks for all the help
Actually at my local shop, they have an adult male williamsi for $50 and 2 or 3 gold dust babies, also $50. If I were to get the williamsi I would want to wait a bit before getting a female for him. I have been continuing to do my research each day. I find I would be able to care for either species quite well. I've been into animals all my life. I currently have two Axolotls I keep in a 29gal. I also have two adult male red eye tree frogs I have in an exo terra 18x18x24 & two baby red eyes (about the size of a nickel each) that I keep in a spare 20 gallon. I rescued the two baby red eyes from certain death (desert conditions) in November, I wasn't sure the one would survive but it seems to be getting stronger ever since I brought them home.
I have also kept different types of lizards and anole's in the past. So I'm just getting back into the reptiles.
