Default Hello everyone!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Steve, and i have 2 adult leopard geckos! I have had my female (Sandra) going on 14 years now. I got her when i was really young, so the pet store gave me a "starter kit" and said this will do just fine. 10 gallon, 1 hide, and waterbowl. .. Well after recently adopting another leopard gecko, (Ringo) is 3 years old. I have decided to try and make a better setup for these guys. I have already learned a lot, just looking around. I hope to learn more as i start putting together for things for my geckos. Sandra is healthy and active, but after reading just 10 minutes on here, i feel their environment could be a lot better. I hope to spoil her and Ringo.

Thank you everyone for the welcome. After a quick peek around looks like these 10 gallons are too small. I haven't even heard of a UTH till I joined the site. Dont bash me too much! So I have a 55 gallon they will be going into. Im thinking of putting up a barrier because they havent met yet.I'm Scared Sandra might become very stressed with a young male around. Will changing her environment all of a sudden, freak her out? Sorry to ask here, I'm just really excited to make these super happpy.

'Morning Steve ~

How tall is your 55 gallon tank? Reason I ask is that it may be difficult to heat because of the height. A 20 gallon long measures 30 inches x 12.5 inches (width) x 12.75 inches (height). That is ideal for leos unless you plan on constructing a series of ramps and ledges in order to take advantage of the extra height.

Welcome to GU Steve, Sandra, and Ringo. You have definitely come to the right place to learn. I have learned so much here since I joined in Oct. Lots of great people with a wealth of knowledge.

Can't wait to see pics of Sandra and Ringo (hint hint) LOL

Howdy!

I will have to measure the hieght, I was thinking the same about heating. But I will add more lights if need be, and I do plan to build a platform or 2 for them to climb. Now will the UTH help with ambient temperature at all? I had the 55 gallon sitting around, so if I could get away with using it that would be awesome, just ready to spoil these guys. Thanks!
