Default Hello! No geckos yet, but...

Hi! I'm Cathy, and I'm usually a colubrid person only. However...at the last reptile show I went to I spent a loooooooong time at the Ecco Geckos table. I talked with Chris, who was super enthusiastic about their gorgeous animals and willing to spend a lot of time telling me about them. His enthusiasm was catching, and I started to drool over the Diablo Blancos at the table in particular.

I didn't leave with any geckos that weekend, but I haven't been able to stop thinking about those awesome DBs (and this show was in July, LoL!). After obsessing about them for almost half a year now I think it's time to bite the bullet and get one! I have an empty 20L, UTH, thermostat, everything's ready to go...I just want to wait and see what awesome geckos are produced this year before I make the final decision. Also, I've never had a leo and I want to spend some time around here learning what I can rather than going in blind. I used to be a registered vet tech, and that left me with a tendency to research any new animals obsessively before committing.

Anyways, I look forward to learning what I can and seeing everyone else's geckos! Since I don't have any to show off at the moment, I'll end this post with my pride and joy, Grendel:

Hi! Welcome to GU! Gotta love leos!! You'll soon become addicted to them! Be sure to show off a picture if you get a diablo blanco. They are one of my favorite morphs as well!
I too love snakes but only have one (and will probably not get anymore)! A baby garter snake named Boog! Grendel is a gorgeous snake! What species is she?
Hope you enjoy your time here!

Hi and thanks for the welcome! Grendel is an Eastern Indigo. I handled one at a show when I was 16 and fell in love with the species. They're rather pricey and quite high maintenance though, so it wasn't until nine years later that I felt ready for an Indigo of my own. He's really special to me, especially because I had to wait soooo long for him!

Hello again and thanks for the welcome! The more I lurk around here the more I think maybe I don't want to wait until summer for my DB.....we'll see...

Can anyone recommend any books on leos? There are more than a dozen available for kindle and I don't know where to start since most of them have no reviews!
