Default Introduction/New to site

Hi, I'm fairly new to herpes but always wanted turtles and little lizards since I was a kid. I am currently employed by a big box pet store chain and do try to break the stereotype of the idiots that if you listen to will have you kill your pet.

I am getting ready to take the next step, and think I might but at least one Tokay on friday with the intentions of breeding. A local store got a few in and will look at them a little closer. I have been tossing the idea of breeding around for a while and decided on Tokays since there seems to not be too many breeders. Plus while I already own one wild caught gecko in general I am somewhat against it, and would like to see more captive bred options.

I am just past the point of being novice but realize I am still very new to the trade and would appreciate any input or advice!

Thanks!

Hello ~

A hearty welcome to Geckos Unlimited! Are these tokays you're considering captive bred?

Riverside Reptiles (Ethan) here has bred tokays for a long time. Check out the GU tokay subforum.

What is the genus of your WC gecko?

I have a Crocodile(Moorish) Gecko that's WC. I never try to handle it, just feed it, spray it every two days, and it comes out at night. I hear it. Still small though, looks like about 4 1/2 " total length, maybe 4-8 gms body mass. It blends in well, and I am slowly adding things to it's habitat to try to improve it. I give it two weeks to see if it makes a difference to allow for de-stress from change. Total spaz though. lightening fast over distances of 4-6 feet and super nervous. I use no substrate, to allow for easy spot cleaning and have lots of small surface chunks of cork stacked on each other that it hides on the under side of. I have it in a 20 High which seemed to be a decent size.
