Default I am new. Would like advice, and recommendations.

I kept Geckos in my youth, and now I am interested in getting back into the mix. I am interested in getting some ideas for enclosures. I want to get 2 enclosures, one a desert environment for 3 leopard geckos (haven't decided on what morph), and 1 for a rainforest environment for day geckos (looking at giantdaygeckos.com the crimson/blue blood pair). I would like any information regarding recommended cage sizes, and such. I am straying away from the breeders rack system, my goal is for these to be display pieces within my home. So curb appeal is important.

Thanks for your time.

Welcome to GU!

Exo Terra and ZooMed brand viviariums are some of the most common options, and come in many different dimensions for different types of habitats.

An 18x18x24 would be good for a single or pair of P. m. grandis.

I keep 3 leopard geckos in a 20 gallon long aquarium with an additional upper heated level that's 12"x12". I'd recommend a 40 gallon if you want them all on one level. The aquariums work fine for me. I use ceramic which looks nice, though I have 1 enclosure with coco fiber/sand (just a little mixed in) that works well too. As mentioned above, Zoo-Med and Exo-terra now make cages that are longer than they are wide which would be appropriate for leopard geckos though the cages are a big pricey. Also check out glasscages.com for front opening cages that can work for leopard geckos and are quite a bit cheaper.

A hearty welcome to Geckos Unlimited! Good to hear that you are returning to our cool hobby. Once a geckophile at heart, always a geckophile. It is in our genes .

Are you thinking of breeding the leos or getting 3 similarly sized females? A 20 gallon LONG tank is recommended even for one leo.

Husbandry recommendations have improved over the years. Please read my leo recs updated just a few days ago: http://www.geckosunlimited.com/commu...12-update.html

For a substrate for your leo cage I highly recommend slate tile! It can be cut to fit precisely. Slate tile is an excellent heat conductor whereas ceramic tile conducts heat poorly if at all.
