Default What species is this Phelsuma?

Hello fellow gecko enthusiasts.

I present this adorable Phelsuma, named Henry. Now upon purchase of Henry, he was a juvenile and was claimed to be one of the larger Phelsuma species.

Now in short, it was told species that Henry was one (more expensive) species but as he grew, he obtained the size and obvious traits of another (Obvious to the point that the following may seem like a dumb question).

What is his species?

He is currently about 55 grams (about two ounces) with a snout-vent length of 10-11cm (about 4 inches).

Any opinions, comments, and explanations (especially explanations) would be grateful.

You have a Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis. He is a handsome little fella.

Just as I had suspected.

Thank you, Hexentanz.

So then, there is absolutely no way one can confuse an adult Phelsuma m. grandis for an adult Phelsuma standingi?

I can see how some people may mix up the juveniles since (as I understand it, never having seen one "in the flesh") the standingi juvies have more color. I can't imagine an experienced keeper mixing them up, though.

Definitely P. M. Grandis and a nice one at that! Although I have no idea how anyone could confuse grandis for standingi, especially when young:

IDK what you paid for him, but from what I'm seeing, a nice red male P. m. grandis like that runs pretty close to what a male P. standingi would cost.

I agree. Nice male grandis are hard to find and this one is above average.
