Default Sikorae Enclosure Sizes

I was wondering what size enclosures people generally used to house sikorae? I was reading in Svatek's book that the minimum size should be 70gl! I thought that was a bit large for sikorae...What sized enclosures do you guys use? Particularly those that have bred sikorae.

I am using the 2 foot Neodesha cubes to house 1.2 mossy's! I happened to get lucky and get 8 of the neos! They are great cages if you find any!!

Thanks Erik

only 2ft cubed? how long have you had them in there Erik? i've been reading everywhere else that to have any luck in breeding them you need enclosures about 100X80X150cm! Thats a big difference!! not saying you're wrong obviously just wanted some clarification

The sikorae are probably my favourite Uroplatus in terms of appearance, aside perhaps from the pied henkelis.

I use an 18" x 18" x 24" exo-terra cage for pairs. They seem to do well. Prior to those cages I used comperable sized cages for a good 5 or 6 years.

I keep keep phants right now but thinking about getting a pair of sikorae. Was thinking of converting a 29 gallon to a tall for a pair. Anyone ever done this? I converted tanks but they were smaller and not to such a extent. Thanks.

I have 1.1 adult Sikorae in a 2'x3'x4' screened enclosure with custom sides/back. They use every inch of it while hunting crickets at night.

I'll be getting 1.1 juvies Sikorae from Erik tomorrow and they will go into their own 10g tall until they are old enough to be put in together, then they will be housed in a 2'x2'x4' screened enclosure with custom sides/back.

Hello,
I have several U. Sikorae, and all of mine are thriving in the set ups I have them in.

I keep a couple of pairs in 18x18x36" screen cages. I also have a trio in an 18x24x36" custom glass enclosure. I have single young animals in 12x12x18" Zoo Meds and I have a couple of juveniles in 18x18x24" custom cages.

They use all the room you provide them with. Eventually when I have more available funds, all of my pairs/trio's will be moved into 18x24x36" enclosures.
Thanks,
-Armen
