Default U. ebenaui egss

Hello everyone,

Today I found my second clutch of eggs (bot clutches were the first clutch of different females) and they are in the incubator with temperatures fluctuating between 21 and 22 degrees Celsius. First clutch is from one month ago and seem to doing fine. Anyone experiences on other temperatures ideas at which temperatures I will have a good idea of male:female ratio?

Thank you,

jody

congratz from me too.
The ebenaui, cf. or normal? I was always told that they need low temps with nightly cooldown. Didn`t somebody else here had eggs off ebenaui also?

btw, Tariq, how are you doing? Long time not heard.

Hello there,

These are normal ebeneaui and they look fine. I have heard from several people that the hardest time will be early young and keeping them alive. I always serve my young uroplatus with regular feedings, each day if possible. I keep the parents in similar temperatures as the incubation temperature I am using. With the 21 to 22 degr Celsius incubation I meant daytime temp as for the night, it will certainly drop, but I haven't checked how much the drop actually is.

Tariq, thanks man!

I have not seen anyone offering young ebenaui for sale for a few years, at least, not that I have noticed. All info is welcome!

Hello Jody. Congratulation. Are these females with my normal male?
I incubate the eggs on the temperatures that also adults are. Now is these between 16-23. 2 weeks ago these temperatures were lower, like 14-20.
I allways incubate the eggs on lower tempertaures. And at lower temperatures I have more females. These year I have incubate the eggs between 14-18 and many are females. During the summer when the temperatures are higher I get more males. My freind Matjaz was incubating the phantasticus eggs on higher temperatures like 20-25 and had bad succes. The babys usualy were not strong and did not live long. Only when he incubated at lower temperatures that meens in the night lower then 20 then the babys were strong and survived.
I allways incubate phantasticus, ebenaui, sikorae eggs at lower temperatures with good succes!!

That's to bad, I hope your lucky soon, it would be great to see more captive bred!

@Grep: Yes, the clutch are both from your male and they are the normal ones. Both females are still looking fine, with enlarged calcium sacks. Thank you for the advice. During the winter, I have kept my ebeneaui's around 16 to 18 degr Celsius, with nightdrop in my kitchen, where it stays almost continuous low in temperature. My phantasticus are next to my ebeneaui and they are doing fine at similar temperatures. So if I understand well, Matjaz kept them under 20 at night and day temperatures were less relevant to some extend?

Allso temperatures during the day are important. If I have temperatures also during the day under 20 then I have more females but some eggs fail to hatch. It is probably too cold for not strong babys or just too cold for embrio to develope properly!? Under these condition the incubation can take 6 months. If the temperatures during the day are ower 20 then I get more and more males. In summer when temperatues are high ( 20-25) and there is no proper temperature drop during night then majority are males.
These is my expirience.
