Default My even newer Henkeli tank

So the other tank looked good but, as some of you suggested it was a little too cramped. This time I think I got it right. I bought a 18X18X36 screen cage and heres what I've done with it so far let me know what you think.

I cut two peaces of angle iron and got a peace of plexie glass cut 16.5"X12" and cut two peaces of U iron (not sure what it's really called) and made a mount for the logs so they would slide out for easy cleaning and wouldn't be laying in the substrate.

heres the angle iron it's the track for the plexie glass to slide in on. I drilled two holes on each peace and slide it into the frame of the cage so the screws that hold the cage together also hold the tracks in place.

it worked real well but it left about a 1/8" gap were the door closes so I bought rubber weather striping for that edge. which actually worked to my advantage cause it give me a space ti run the drip water tube threw

then I took the plexie glass and ran the two peaces of U iron I cut along the 16.5" edges so the plexie glass wouldn't buckle

then I took some branches I found from a freshly fallen tree about a month and a half ago, which I dried out and froze, drilled out some holes in the plexie glass and screwed them in

and it slides in and out with ease

I still want to put some corkbark tubes and maybe even cover the back wall with cork bark as well but for now I think I'm off to a good start and I think Mitsey happy with her new cage too.

she matches these branches a lot better

and if that wasnt enough excitment for one day I found a suprise when I was cleaning out her old tank.

she laid a slug on the wall of the cage on Jan 27 and I didn't find anything else in the cage while doing a quick sweep on the 28th but sure enough when I was pulling up a plant in the back of the old cage underneath the sheet moss there it was. it did have some very tiny bugs on it but I t don't think they did any damage. I stuck it in some perlit i a tupper ware container so I'll just have to weight and see. The egg looked pretty good but there was a few faint yellow freckles on the one side. It was under the sheet moss tucked into some moist bio balls so maybe thats what stained it or maybe its going bad who knows?

these are the yellow freckles

one more thing I used coco fiber as substrate and I think thats ok but if anyone has had bad experiances with it or has bad feed back on it definitely let me know

Thanks for checking it out and let me know what you think
-Matt

That is a GREAT looking cage! I love the 'hanging branch' idea! That is very creative!

She looks great, and good luck with the egg!

gecko enclosure looks great, pic of semi-nude male Homo sapiens ever present in background is mildly disturbing, LOL.

I've been experamenting with using glamor shoots as viv backgrounds to get my female geckos in heat but I think this one comes across a little homoerotic so the point is lost in translation, I'll post my findings at the end of my case study, lol.
the hanging branch thing took me less then an hour to make it's real easy to do and it's holding up great I just need to throw some washers on the screws.
thanks for the complements every one
