Default Can a large fimbriatus stay in a critter cage for two days

Just like the title says

I have a giant leaf tailed gecko, at least 10 inches long. I have a large 48X16x16 vertical tank. I am going to add a background with greatstuff, silicone and coconut husk, and I need it to cure for two days before I can let him back in because of the fumes.

The problem is I have no other tank, I have one with a uroplatus sikorae in it but I don't think mixing breeds with that kind of size difference is wise.

Can the giant leaf tail gecko survive in a little three gallon tank as long as the humidity and heat are ok for two days?

I imagine they ship these things across the world and they're cooped up for weeks, two days in a small cage with food water and humidity should be ok correct??

I see your logic with the shipping thing but your better off just using a storage bin. Go to walmart and grab the biggest one you can find cheep that way you will have something on hand if you get stuck again or need a quarantine cage. Also how long have you had him? think of it this way if he's a new wild caught one then he's gone threw all that shipping across the world stress in the past few weeks and on top of that he was probably in holding for a month or two while the exporter was trying to fill the rest of the order so the stress of being in the little cage wouldn't be compared to it so much as added to it (this is not me criticizing you I have a bunch of wild caught geckos hope it doesn't come off that way) and if your handy enough to make a background you can set the storage bin up like this

Geckoholic Reptiles

the photo at the bottom should help

Also the great stuff will be fine after 2 days and even after a day for that matter but the you should wait longer then that for the silicone. the thickness of silicon to cover the GS usually ends up getting kinda thick which will cure slower and also covering the silicon with coco fiber while it's still wet can make the cue time even longer. these are my experiences at lest if you haven't done this before you'll find out in a few days when you put your nose up to it and it still makes it burn. your better off going with gorilla glue it's basically great stuff but it's not compressed so it does expand a little while it's drying which means your going to have to watch it a little and push the coco fiber in a few times but the dry time isn't much longer then great stuff so you won't have to monitor it for like more then an hour

hope this was helpful (and not just another one of my tangents) any questions don't hesitate to ask

-Matt

If silicone is not necessary, would it be safe to just use elmers glue? This is a 48" tank, that amount of gorilla glue would cost a lot. A jug of elmers is 10 bucks and is non toxic. Unless there's an issue of breakdown over time because of moisture...

elmers glue is gonna break down, Gorilla glue goes a long way trust me you don't need the big jug. I bought a 36 oz for 2 walls of an 18X24 exoterra and I used less then 1/4 the bottle. I'm not saying silicone doesn't work I'm just saying that in my experience it's gone bad more then good. once I figured out how to do it with gorilla glue it made my life so much easier and I thought I'd share the tip, And the silicon will end up costing more for that coverage, gorilla glue expands you can paint it on with a foam brush. Again I don't know if you've done it before or not so if you have and it works keep doing what your doing. I guess the original question didn't have anything to do with this anyway, sorry my bad

Have a good one
