Calcium is the biggest culprit and is a mineral. Other minerals will also cause water spots. The name "mineral water" implies that it contains more minerals than normal. More things that cause water spots = more water spots....

Ah I see, so bottled water is out the window then. Perhaps I'll start using filter water.

You can use bottled water if it is distilled or reverse osmosis.
