Hey Simon,

Well, in the first picture, I can very vaguely make out what seems to be darker striations running down the back and sides (or maybe just image distortion) and the second pic shows the absence of the bilateral black marking at the base of the head, which would both indicate a male, but please don't hold me to that guess, since it is just a guess.

Just one small question, young Henkeli which has large white spots is female?

Its a little tougher to tell at that size...Their pattern is the most telling when the first hatch out.

The head looks like it is a more solid color, with a lighter band/collar around the neck...
Females usully have a solid collar around their neck.
You wont be able to tell anything by using hemepenal buldges until atleast 6-9 months of age, depending on size.
