I am curious what you mean by "free range". Do you mean allow the animal(s) to just freely walk around a room in the house, or throughout the entire house?

I've talked a bit with Scott at the Riverbanks Zoo, and he says that they used to have some free-ranging Uroplatus around their reptile/amphibian exhibit, at least until they started seeing visitors walking away with Uroplatus in hand. I cannot remember which species in particular he mentioned, but I believe it was henkeli, fimbriatus, and/or lineatus. He specifically mentioned that the animals did well, even in the heat (summertime temperatures in Columbia, SC are regularly in the 90s-100s F). However, he specifically mentioned that the animals would not breed (not sure how he could keep tabs to make certain, but I'm guessing at least they weren't finding clutches or hatchlings). And that's all I've ever heard of anyone having free ranging Uroplatus outside of Madagascar.

Such keeping is mentioned in the Uroplatus book by Svatek and van Duins. One of the authors discusses keeping several species Uroplatus in a patio full of plants.

As long as moving parts such as doors/windows are monitored and appropriate consideration is given to what routes your animals will be using given an entire room.
