Default CGD and Uroplatus

I was looking through Kingsnake Classifieds and came across an ad that stated that his Fimbriatus were eating CGD (crested gecko diet) and crickets. Have any of you offered CGD to your Uroplatus and did any of them eat it?

I havent fed mine any before but i have been curious to know if they would show interest in cgd. leaftail feeding is on the agenda for this evening so I tell you what, since they should be hungry I will throw them all some tonight and hold off on their regular insect diet until tomorrow night and will report back in tomorrow for you. Anyone have experience or is anyone else willing to experiment?

I've personally had no interest in trying, as I've never heard anyone claim they eat fruit/nectar in the wild. I doubt you'd be able to get them to feed on it exclusively (and who knows if it would meet their dietary needs if they did), but good luck anyway. I remember when I had crested geckos and I'd feed them CGD, it would basically look the same on the way out as it did on the way in.

i know my aim would be not to use cdg as a meal replacement, only as a supplemental food source once in a while to vary the diet, providing a little enrichment, and some added nutrition. The stuff is pretty solid nutrition as I have bred crested geckos for a few years on it almost exclusively and it is easy to mix in a little added calcium during the season. I am curious to know if they would show any interest in it as I am sure they would encounter some overripe fruits in the wild and may be inclined to make a small and sweet opportunistic meal of it. Don't worry, they will still be getting plenty of crickets and dubia.

I know that they(larger Uroplatus) will happily lick babyfood/babyfood-cgd mixture from an eyedropper or a syringe. I have heard at least one keeper saying that their lineatus ate up a whole cap full of CGD/babyfood. Baby food/cgd/H20 mixtures are a good way to get xtra calcium/vitamins into your Uroplatus.

well all sorry for the delay in posting my results but I was able to offer cgd on several nights giving me a bit more observational data. I ended up feeding 2 of 3 pairs of U. sikorae along with a pair and a lone female U. aff. henkeli on 3 nights on nights when i did not offer insects. I got kinda some hit and miss results, in one cage of sikorae atleast one of them checked it out and left a slightly noticeable portion missing with some tongue marks. My breeder female henkeli was interested from the moment she saw me put it down in the cage and i watched her several times wander over to it and sniff around over the course of about 2 hours, she must have gotten into it after I went to bed but I wouldnt say by any means she made a meal of it, rather just gave it a curious taste as not much was missing but she did do as my cresteds tend to favor and turn the food container upside down when she lost interest in it. The lone female henkeli to my knowledge didnt even look at it or go near it. All in all i would say it probably isnt worth the effort aside from an occasional treat or for some late night low light entertainment by curious geckos.

Thanks for posting your results...have to say that I was surprised by your female henkeli initial interest in it.
