Smile First Henkeli have hatched!

After a loooong wait first henkeli eggs have hatched. #1 was 94 days at 75F with a 4 degree night drop. #2 was 97 days at 75F with a 4 degree night drop and unfortunately hatched with a nub tail. I assume it's from bad positioning in the egg considering temps were stable throughout incubation. Both are healthy and active otherwise. Next clutch should hatch within 2-3 weeks.

Hatchling #1:

Hatchling #2

curious about the nub tail...It looks perfectly healthy...weight/hydration wise.

Was there any remains of a tail in the egg shell after it hatched out.

I have had the last egg of the season hatch out with a kinked tail...ended up being perfectly fine after the first month. It will grow a bit slower than the one with the full tail.

Nope no sign of tail remains anywhere. I thought she may have dropped it at first but unless she ate it it was never there. She does have a tiny bit of nub that looks like the start of a tail that never fully developed. She's doing just fine and eating now so time will tell.
