U. s. sikorae - mating in fall?!
I just moved my adult male into the same terrarium as the female. It did not even take 2 minutes before they started mating. I am a bit confused as they should not be mating until the spring. I have just started giving them cooler nights and cutting back on misting (at the moment less then half the ammount as in summer) for the winter season. So that i can raise the humidity and temps again in spring to induce mating. It is the first season for them both. I checked the Svatek & Duin book, it sais the maiting in nature occurs from October to January when the temps and humidity rises. Has my attempt to use the weather as an aid failed? Or is it just an dominance thing?
Has anyone seen anything like this?
