Default New Uroplatus!

So I got this guy earlier today. I wont lie, I'm not the best with the i.d. of these guys, but im pretty sure its not a henkeli which is what it was listed as. For 75 bucks though, I figured I'd save him ( They had him in with a pair of emerald swifts, and the kid that helped me said "hes holding up pretty well in this tank, im a little suprised.." I almost kicked him) I used to keep fimbriatus and phantasticus in the early 2000's before they all disappeared (satanics were usually around 50 to 75 at a local reptile store) but never henkeli or sikorae (what I think he is)

Sweet...good find and save. It's a sikorae, but possibly a sameiti. You'll have to check the throat at some point to know...sameiti have pink throats and sikorae will have black.

Pinkish throat. he hangs out on the back wall, though his tank is littered with driftwood and cork bark.. As i said, first uro in years, and never had sikorae, whats the difference between sikorae and sameiti, other than the throat?

That's about all really as far as ID...subtle other differences that people notice like pattern, eyes, etc.

Their care is pretty much the same, except that sameiti seem to do better if they are kept warmer and misted more often. Mine absolutely love getting sprayed down. The come from different locations on Madagascar and a couple of the close surrounding islands, so their habitats differ slightly.

Thanks for the extra info. He seems to be settling well, though the fact that he likes the wall more than all the other stuff is a little annoying.. but I'm used to that with African geckos already haha.
