Default mouth abrasions U.henkeli

Hi
I have a problem with U.henkeli. There appears to be rubbing them in front of the mouth. Abrasion over time decreases and then increases again, I do not know what caused the injury. Often, they are almost healed scratch renewed during the hunt.
Can anyone tell what may have caused injury and how it prevented?
Thanks all !
Simon

Agressive feeding, screens or a combination.... hitting an insect next to a screen or abrasive object. That would be my guess.

It doesn't necessarily have to be screen at blame, although I would not be surprised if it were to blame in some cases. I have a cage with minimal screen, and my geckos occasionally have the same issue...typically on the tip of the snout. It's a large cage (2ftx2ftx4ft), and the geckos most hunt from the branches or vines. I think it's the way they pounce prey with such gusto that causes the injuries.

You guys have seen an injury in that location from a screen? I've seen plenty of screen rubs, but they're never so localized in such a weird place. Normally they're on the front of the snout and more above the large lip scales, on the nose. That looks more like an impact injury or than a nose rub to me.

I have seen two of my young henkelis pounce and miss the prey, but catch something else. Sometimes it was substrate, one time the edge of a feeding container, one time a juvie male grabbed a 4x4" paper towel piece and took off with it. I was right there with the door open so I grabbed it and had to wrestle him for it like a dog with a stick. I can easily imagine an injury like that coming from something like what I've just mentioned.
