Default U. phantasticus Toe Injury/Issue? advice please.

I just received these guys on Tuesday as some of you know I posted few pictures already. Anyways I noticed a tiny piece of stuck shed. Upon close examination its almost like a hard dried blister? I don't really know what to think now. It does have tiny piece of shed though as you can see in the picture but that seems like the less of the problem now from what I seen. I don't know what to do I hope he'll be ok. Any advice would be appreciated. I just got them tuesday he is very active and alert haven't seen him eat yet, he drinks licks eyes very alert. I think he shed last night so that is how I noticed the tiny piece and the cautious movements he makes due to toe issue. If you zoom the whole toe pad is basically not there. I just looked again its as if maybe two toes are like this to some extent on same left front foot.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Sometimes the top tip will collect pieces of shed that haven't sloughed off yet. It will create a "ball" of shed like that. Soakings in a deli cup of moist paper towel should help that to come off.

Thanks Kyle, That makes sense. Im going to let him settle in a bit more and then figure out a way to help assist the removal of the built up sheds. Just a bit nervous since these are fragile and Im not comfortable in handling. Especially since he hasn't even got acclimated to my environment. Other than that, he seems like a healthy, good looking gecko. I don' think most people would have even noticed it, with him being so new I closely observe and monitor as much as possible.

I don't think you have to do anything about it right away. It would probably be better to let them settle in and acclimate like you said.

I haven't had very many stuck toe pads just come off by themselves, no matter how much I soak them. That looks like multiple layers to me. I'm not an expert by any means but D.B. is right, give him a few days to settle and then start warm soaks. I've had good success with a q-tip and mineral oil for really tough shed. But toe tips are pretty tough to get to, they don't like having them touched and the tips are almost always covered when the gecko is on something making them hard to see and reach.

Default Thanks Guys!

I'm giving him some time then I will assess the situation better. I have a feeling it won't just come off either ,so it will be a test of patience as well. Thats the joy of working with them I guess. I will work carefully when the time comes. Little bit of patience and some careful work will hopefully be enough to take care of things properly.

Thanks Jack

He shed last night for sure and I think he took care of it himself. My first post I thought he shed because I noticed the piece hanging from toe pad.I don't think he did that day anymore. After seeing how bright he is now after last nights shed. He's doing well so far. I have seen him eating a few times now and is hydrated, also more actively climbing around since he got that off his feet . Figured Id update on him.
