I didnt know adults would be too big. That helps a TON.

I do not drive. I WISH I could go to a reptile show, we have one here monthly. I only even go to the pet store because its a 5 minute drive and the cat is on wet food, so we pick up more weekly.

Hi Adult crickets are really only too big if your leo is not full grown. However a full grown leo will also eat the smaller crickets (not too small though, smaller ones are faster and harder to catch for less calorie intake and too small crickets aren't worth the effort for bigger leos).

I tend to buy the size smaller than adults, and then feed the bigger ones off first. By caring for them properly, and feeding like this, I can make a box last nearly 2 months at times, and they only start to make noise near the end of this.

My store sells small and large ... they may have medium in their little container things though. though when I get it they will be so small i will probably need small of everything.

How do you feed your crickets to them? I dont want to have to keep catching crickets back out of the tank.

In the end, you will have to keep catching the crickets. To minimize the amount of catching I would drop in 1-2 crickets at a time and then let your gecko eat it and add more. You won't know how much crickets your gecko will eat unless you want to have a set amount, which most recommend giving your gecko as much as it will eat in 15 mins.

I catch the crickets out of the cricket keeper - sometimes with my hands sometimes with tongs and pop them in in front of Daff, who can then hunt them.

However, cricket keepers come with tubes you can take out for easy feeding - remove a tube and shake a couple out. Obviously it's harder to shake out the biggest ones only, but you can always pop the tube back over any really small ones that drop out to catch them again (assuming your leo hasn't already started to hunt that cricket (that's just mean, letting him hunt and taking the food away)).

Between petsmart and petco I will not shop there anymore. It robbery!! If i need something for the good of my geckos i may go in if its an emergency. Are you sure there is no reptile store nerby. I found one not exactly close by but I get everything from them they are 60% cheaper off almost everything compared to petco. Its seriously insane. a 40-50 dollar heat pad caost 16 dollars at lll reptile in my area. Those prices are real close online. I know you said your limited for online but Im talking serious savings. My cricket are 20 for a dollar. I ask for thirty or fourty and I usually get around 100. I think they hook me up becaus eim in there at least once a week. If there is anyway to order online or find a nerby reptile store you can really save hundreds. I would have. (first set up was from petco, along with the info being wrong I basically wasted couple hundred. Only to get two Viv and everythigng I needed for the same price I spent at petco for one.

Yes I know those ones, I recomend finding out what day those meds are delivered and get them as fresh as possible, (unless there are reasons im not aware of why you should not get them, Some one will share if there is) , because those sit a while and if your crickets arent mostly dead they cant be too healthy from being in the little box till they sell or die. The medium are nice though. Small ones can just hide too easy. I dont have to catch the crickets any lonnger. My lizrds are 35 grams now. when they were younger I suppose they leftover alot but my tank was a little cluttered. What helped the most with that, I simplified the Viv, removed some decor, removed objects and spaces the crickets could hide, and moved everthing away from corners they started getting like 90 % of 8-10 crickets. The leftovers usually get eaten before next feeding. I also assist my female by stirring the crickets out from hiding and remove her hide top to so she can see, she has no problem with my hand in the tank shes very tolerable of me. Luckily my male eats everything and is a great hunter because I think he hates me. I cant get near him or even move to much around the tank. I will always end up with a few crickets by sunday (cleaning day) and will just suck em up in the dustbuster and dispose. Probably lost most of the nutrition anyhow.

P.S. You will get so used to chirpping you may not be able to sleep without it eventually

When I used to feed crickets I would remove the back legs and put them in a food bowl. The smalls and smaller mediums don't make noise but they all still smell. Edgar doesn't eat them anymore. I'm not fighting him on the issue.
