I think there's a lot of individual variation. I certainly see that with my geckos. Sometimes I know they've eaten and the poop area is empty. Just goes with the territory. On occasion, the gecko is pooping somewhere that we don't know about and there's a nice little collection in another part of the enclosure!

A leo's shed fills his belly for a while.
A 40 gallon is an excellent size for a 2 yo adult leopard gecko!Pooping ~2 times per week is good: eat ----> poop; eat ----> poop! How about feeding him Mondays & Thursdays, so his meals are spread '"~evenly"?
- Which brand and exact name supplements are you using?
- How often & with which do you dust?
- Are you using his heat mat only at night? IF your room temps stay about 67ish at night, you could turn OFF the heat mat then and just use it during the days.
- Does he have a thermostat?
Here are some tips in case your leo is constipated.
- Only feed him a couple hornworms until he poops. Hornworms are 85% moisture. Other foods can cause additional blockage.
Click: Hornworm Guidelines - Place a couple drops of olive oil or vegetable oil on his nose once a day.
- Be sure he always has access to fresh drinking water.
Temperatures - A temperature gradient from warm to cool maintains your leo's health. Here's a temperature guide for all leopard geckos as measured with the probe of a digital thermometer or a temp gun. Set your thermostat at 91*F/32.8*C.
Tape the thermostat's probe and a digital thermometer's probe together, but offset a little. Place them right on top of the substrate underneath the warm dry hide. If you use a UTH + a CHE you'll need 2 separate thermostats, because ground and air temperatures are substantially different.
- Warm dry hide ground temperature: 88-92 F (31.1-33.3 C) inside a leo's warm dry hide.
- Warm humid/moist hide: Place the humid hide 100% on top of the heat mat. Keep temperatures similar to the warm dry hide.
- Cool dry hide ground temperature: 70ish-75 F (21.1-23.9 C) Usually the cool end ground temperature matches the room temperature where the enclosure sits.
- no greater than 82ish F (27.8ish C) surface temperature - 4 inches (10 cm) above ground on the warm end
- no greater than 75 F (23.9 C) surface temperature - 4 inches (10 cm) above ground on the cool end
Leave your heat mat on 24/7 IF ambient room temperatures drop lower than 67ish*F (19.4*C). If NOT, during the night turn off overhead lighting/heating (~12 hours on and ~12 hours off)"If you can hear crickets, it's still summer." ;)

I'm not quite sure what brand my leopard geckos calcium is, but I dust his food with d3 once a week and once with plain. Yes, I use the heat mat only at night, but he doesn't like using the hide with the heat mat during the day. Only at night. The heat mat has a thermostat. Also, he did poop 2 times after that week! I think it was the shed. Thanks for all the help!

You're welcome. Thanks for replying. Glad your leo has pooped twice!
IF you're using Repashy's Calcium Plus, that's an all-in-one multivitamin. IF NOT, how about considering a multivitamin for your leo -- one that does NOT contain vitamin D3, since you have that base covered?Last edited by Elizabeth Freer; 02-14-2021 at 07:58 AM.

I just looked at what calcium I use and I use ReptoCal wich contains only D3. I did some research and realised that I should buy a type of calcium that is multivitamin, not just D3. I also use Fluker's plain calcium without D3. Any recommendations? Also, how many hornworms would I give him in a feeding?

My preferred calcium is all-in-one Repashy Calcium Plus which I've been using since 2009. I dust feeders every other feeding. The number of hornworms depends on the size. When feeding worms (hornworms or super worms) to my geckos I drop them in one by one until they're not interested anymore.

Which Tetrafauna product? How much D3? Please link it. The Tetrafauna product I found online contains other vitamins in addition to D3.
All supplements contain varying amounts of ingredients. I prefer Zoo Med's supplements. Perhaps you'll only need to add Zoo Med's Reptivite multivitamins withOUT D3.Last edited by Elizabeth Freer; 02-24-2021 at 05:25 AM.
