    Default Leo's in New Zealand

Hi everyone, my name is Michelle and I am from South Africa. Joined a while ago but have not been posting. I am a home-based leopard gecko breeder. We are very seriously considering immigrating to New Zealand and wanted to know if anyone on this forum is from New Zealand. I would like to know if Leopard gecko's are available in New Zealand as I love my leo's and would love to continue with leopard gecko once I am there. Does anyone have any info for me? Are there any other websites I can check out?

    Thanks so much
    Michelle

Not sure the policy in NZ, pretty sure ya canot bring your leopards to AU. NZ is an island country, and I don't think they allow to keep exotic reptiles. However, there should better and nice gecko in NZ lol.

Thanks for that. I would definately not try and take them with me. It will be incredibly sad if I cant get any there but if so, so be it.

    OMG misinformation.
I'm looking at moving to NZ for a year and am researching the gecko situation over there.

    At least read this site.
Welcome to the New Zealand Herpetological Society

Leo's are on the exotic (allowed) species list for NZ. There are also lots of NZ geckos on the allowed list with certain licence levels.

Im not sure if your still on this site or looking for advise. but I live in New Zealand (very beautiful ) and I own a leopard gecko. I dont think you would be able to ship your little ones here since the law is rather strict on exotic reptiles. If you wanted to breed leopard geckos in New Zealand you would make alot of money because there are not many breeders of them here and they are very hard to find. I was lucky to get mine from a lady who could no longer look after her. hope this helped.
