Red face Hello from BC, pleased to introduce Athena, a female rescued gecko>

    Hello,

I am new to this forum and new to owning a gecko. Previously, in my teenage years, I grew up with a family bearded dragon.

But now I find myself having this tiny beautiful creature to care for.

Athena came to me from a terrible housing situation where crickets were just dumped in ( I think the crickets ate her top eyelids?), she had no floor heating, no top light, no constant water and wasn't held for the last 4-5 years and I don't think her tank was ever cleaned, judging on the amount of spiderwebs and carcasses inside. She is approx 13-15 years old and had, at one point, three other sisters in her tank. She is the only one left has probably been alone for at least a year.

She now has everything she needs and I have fallen in love with her- so hard.

Anyways, I would like to see if I could find out exactly what she is. It seems in the gecko community- this is important to know. I have included a few photos of her to help with that!

Thank you for the help and I am happy to have found this community!

My apologies for the sideways photo. I tried to load three others but they exceeded the limit.

It's great that you were able to rescue her. She is a "normal" or "wild type" leopard gecko, which is a refreshing sight since there are so many fancy ones out there.

Glad Aliza was able to identify her, as I had never seen one like that - but - I must say, she is absolutely gorgeous!! Thank you so much for taking her in and giving her a good life now. Poor girl, she sure deserves some love!

Welcome to Geckos Unlimited! I'm glad you and Athena found each other.

There is a huge amount of conflicting info on the internet. Just in case, please check out this short leopard gecko care sheet too.

Let us know if you have questions.

I could not imagine anyone doing that to anything, espacially a leopard gecko. good job on rescuing her.
