    Default Tail swollen mid-length?

LOG IN TO CLOSE THIS AD

One of our leopard geckos has some abnormal swelling in his/her tail, which also looks more pink than normal. Does anyone have suggestions as to what might be going on?

Since the pictures are large, I figured I'd just post links:

    gecko top
    gecko bottom

Thanks so much for your help!

Lol. That's a regenerated tail. Your gecko is just fine! When you brought home the gecko it might not of been completely regrown, or the tail might not of had more fat in it. Now that the gecko is storing more fat the tail looks fatter.

Edit* Also from the photos it shows the gecko has quite a bit of stuck shed on the tip of his toes. I would suggest removing the stuck shed before the toes fall off, taking off the nails.

Thanks both of you for your replies. I'll give him a warm soak to help with the shed.

Yes, the tail is regenerated -- it was lost years ago and has grown back. The super-fatness of the mid-section of the tail is new, within the past couple of weeks. As far as I know that would normally be just fat, and I don't think there's any change in the diet that would explain it.

I wouldn't worry. He's just storing more fat than usual.
