Default Noob! With two geckos :)

Hello everyone, my name is Dane. I own two leopard gecko's. My first one, I got about a year ago. Her name is Rodney, and shes fat and happy! My next one, I got about a week ago. He's a little baby named Rufus. I'm not too sure how old Rodney is, but shes grown a little bit since I've owned her. I'd say shes about three if I were a guessing man. And Rufus is 3 or 4 months old if I'm not mistaking. I got Rufus from Petco, and Rodney off craigslist. Rodney and Rufus were kind of odd when they were first introduced, but they're palls now! I can't wait to get them home in the big tank I have. I'm home on break from school right now, but when I get back to my house at school where the tank is, I'm sure they will be much happier!

Welcome to GU! Just a few things it think about with Rufus and Rodney:
If they're very different in size it's probably not a good idea to keep them together. Also if they're both male they may easily stop getting along after the baby becomes sexually mature and you may not have any warning before it's too late. It would be great to have some pictures.

    Hello,

They should not be anywhere near each other. Please keep them separated.
    (1) Quarantine Recommendations
Any new gecko should be quarantined for a minimum of 60 days prior to introducing her/him to the other geckos in the same cage. 60 days gives adequate time to check for parasites, cryptosporidia, and the beginnings of coccidia plus. 90 days is even better. 3-6 months of quarantine are recommended if your new gecko is imported or wild caught.
    Currently keeping:

    Eublepharis gecko 2.1.0~Hemitheconyx gecko 1.0.0~Gekko gecko 1.0.0~Pogana Vitticeps 1.0.0~Varanus exanthematicus 1.1.0~Varanus acanthurus 1.0.0~Blue Tongue Skink 1.0.0~Red-eared slider 1.0.0

Reptiles I have rehabilitated, rehomed or kept.
    All above species plus:

Phelsuma Grandis~Rhacodactylus ciliatus~Paroedura~Rhacodactylus auriculatus ~Hemidactylus frenatus~Iguana~Turtles ~Snakes and too many more to name!

Welcome to Geckos Unlimited Dane, Rodney, & Rufus!

I am puzzled. You say the older one's name is "Rodney", but you refer to Rodney as a "she". Is Rodney female?

Two leopard geckos of different sizes should be housed separately.

Thank you all for the replies! Haha yeah, Rodney is a girl. At least, I think she is. And I'm pretty sure Rufus is a boy. The people at Petco said they would be fine together, but we all know how that goes haha. So far so good, unfortunately I only have one tank to keep them in currently, or else I would try to separate them. But they haven't fought, or anything. I walked in my room the other day and little Rufus was sleeping on top of Rodney! I need to get my post count up before I show some pictures, but hopefully that'll happen asap!

OK...I see. Trouble might be just around the corner. Be sure to keep a close eye on them.

Have you heard about Petco's $1 per gallon sale till January 19th?

Will do! It's too bad I can't post any pictures yet, but hopefully soon! And I have not, what is it? I'm assuming a 20 gallon tank would be 20 dollars?

Sounds like that to me: 20 gallon LONG (30 inches long for the thermal gradient) = $20! Can't beat that price......

    Posting Pictures...

Some nOObs have posted thumbnails right on their first post.

Nice to meet Rodney & Rufus, Dane .

Because of their size differences, I would raise separately.

How about giving Rufus a little soak in slightly warm water with a chamomile tea bag added to help soften the skin? After about a 15 minute soak, his remaining skin should come off easily.
