Default Leopard Gecko with dry, sore tail and not eating!

Hello everyone, this is my first post so I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. :/

I rescued a gecko last year, he was very thin and was in a very small glass fish tank with calcium sand. It looked like he hadn't been fed in along time as his poo was just filled with sand. I took him for a health check and he was alright.

Ever since having him I've had to hover food in front of him for him to eat it, however in the last two months he hasn't eaten and his sheads are very dry and as he pulls it off he's tearing his tail.

I've used Tamodine on it and has baths daily or every other day and I have also been using reptiboost to pick him up a little to help him eat.
I've also been feeding him a little bit of vegetable baby food to flush his system but nothing is working.

He is now in a tank on his own with kitchen towel as substrate. His poo is also very loose.

    Can anyone help please?

    Thanks in advance, Jade.

    Welcome to GU.

What're the current conditions? Humidity, temp. Humid hide? Also what're you feeding and dusting schedules etc.
Offering for food and how often do you dust?

Thanks for the reply. It's at 60-70 at the minute in the warm. He has a moist box that he uses regularly. I used to add calcium and vitamins once or twice a week, I also add liquid calcium to their water on a daily basis when I change their waters. He did share a tank with a female for around 8 months but I took him away yesterday so I could monitor him and her separately, she's fine though. I would feed every other day, and if they didn't feed that night, I would do it the next morning. I feed locus, meal worms and as a treat sometimes, wax worms.

Okay, so the temps are too low for starters,he warm side should be about 80-85 and 75-79 on the cool side.

Meal worms also are not the most nutricious feeders. Gut loaded crickets or Dubia roaches are even better. You can leave a small dish of plain calcium powder in the tank if you wish instead of the calcium water stuff

Thanks, since rescuing him he's never eaten crickets, only locus. And he also has a calcium dish, but never seen him use it.

Do you have any advice on what to put on his tail? It's very sore and dry.

    Hi,

Your gecko may have an infection and/or parasites if he is having loose stools. He must be examined by a vet once again. Please read the caresheet and make all corrections necessary. Post pictures of your gecko and enclosure.

Very sorry to alarm anyone, the tank was 82 when checked a minute ago. I think my partner needs to learn how to read a temp gauge. I will post a pic tomorrow after work if I have time. How do you change the humidity in a tank?

    Thanks.

What was 82? the temp? You will need a dehumidifier to lower the humidity. Heating sources will help decrease it, but only a few degrees.
