    Default Water Dishes and Bacteria

LOG IN TO CLOSE THIS AD

I was using an Exo Terra "Gecko Dish". I believe because of the surface and texture these dishes have the bacteria is very hard to clean and seems to grow fast. I have switched to a "ceramic" dish knowing I can clean it well.
Any suggestions on a type of small water dish, the cleaning of dish ect. would be great.

    Thanks, a.j.

At this moment I'm using the small Kidney dish from Zilla. My wife believes it's to shallow? I'm not sure about that but, she is the main day to day care giver.
Anything to light weight can tip over. I'm also not sure how deep the dish can be? I don't want anything made of a plastic material.

    Thumbs up Water Dish

This is what I use for my water dish: Mainstays Jumbo Tealight Holder: Decor : Walmart.com

They were suggested by Tony Perkins. They are very heavy and cannot be tipped over (in my experience thus far), not a porous surface so very easy to clean and either $.99 or $1.99 a piece - I can't remember at the moment.

I got these awesome hermit crab water dishes, they are textured on outside but smooth on the inside for easy cleaning. I'll try to find them online for ya.

Thanks for the replies. What about the salmonella that grows on these dishes? Does anyone know if that has caused problems? Or are there any special cleaning secrets I need to know? I'm still new at this and just want to get it right. Thanks, a.j.

When I clean my bowls I always use a little bleach. I'm sure treatment is about the same as cleaning a chicken cutting board after using it to cut chicken. :3

Stainless steel is a great material that can be fully sterilized if wanted. Stainless pet bowls can be found at most pet stores in a variety of sizes.
