Bit concerned
My brother recently bought a breeding pair of leo's and was told the female is pregnant. They haven't been eating much and I think I know why. According to the breeder, they're used to eating once a week. Is this acceptable? Especially seeing as the female is pregnant? The breeder, who is the son of my brother's friend, also told him to kill any of the babies that are born if they lose their tail. This, imo, is just cruel. He told my brother that a leo without a tail is worthless and near on impossible to sell and to just kill it. :/

They should be housed separately in ideal enclosures. The female wont each much while she is gravid, can you see the eggs? make sure she has pure calcium without d3 in her tank it is IMPERITIVE she gets calcium during her pregnancy. and she also needs to have a nesting area with eco dirt.
I personally can not stand when people advertise "breeding pairs" -it means that they will suffer in life from being over bred. Pregnancy is hard on a females body and overbreeding can cause prolapse in males. good breeders do not house "breeding pairs" together they will house them together for a short period of time until the female is gravid, and then separate them so the female does not stress out.
as far as murdering the babies, that makes me sick to my stomach. If they lose their tails- they grow back and sometimes the regen tails are GORGEOUS more gorgeous then previously, and the only time they lose their tails in the first place is if they are housed with other geckos who will naturally fight with them.2 Albino Leopard Geckos-(Tremper)

Whoops, the breeders aren't who I thought they were, my bad. So really, my brother should be thinking of taking the male out? I have a picture of her underbelly, I'm not sure of it's any good or if you can see. I've never owned reptiles before so I'm really a noob on this stuff and I do think he should have researched all of this. He's also using sand as a substrate which I've told him to change. I don't want anything to happen to either of them as I'm hoping to be able to take one of the babies to raise, that's if she's pregnant at least. And I totally agree about the tail thing! I was so shocked when he said it because why would you do that?

Ooh, I just read about the title. Is there any way I can change the title or will I have to make a new thread and just continue on in there?
Corwin:
Tell me about it. :/ He's not the breeder like I thought he was but that still came from him. Going a bit off topic but the same person told my mum that her 3 month old ****atiel was a girl before it's moulted it's first feathers, there's no way to tell. Anyway, back on topic.
