Default Adolescent with stuck shed refuses help

The youngest gecko I take care of (Iíd say about 5-6 months old) shed about a week ago, and he still has quite a bit on his head- not eye lids though. Iíve been trying to get him into a warm bath and Iím trying to gently remove the skin, but he starts thrashing wildly and makes a bunch of squeaks and croaky sounding chirps.

I obviously donít want to let him keep his stuck shed, but I also am afraid that heíll get stressed enough to drop his tail if I continue to push him. Thereís nothing on the toes, tail, nose tip, or eyelids, so thereís no real worry about him looking something because the circulation was cut off, at least, I donít think there is. The stuck part appears on the very top of the head and stretches to right behind the nostrils. A part of it goes down onto his lip.

I donít know if I should just wait for the next shed to see if heíll shed that part off with the rest of his shed or if I should keep trying to remove it. This is the first time heís had shedding issues, and the first time any of the geckos have refused help. (Iíve had to help get the occasional toe skin off).

You could wait for the next shed, given where the stuck shed is. You could also try making him a "sauna" with some warm wet paper towels in a plastic container. Let him sit in there for awhile and then try to pull off the shed. Good luck.

Hm. He should be shedding again really soon so now that I know it won’t cause him grave harm to let it stay for a little bit, I think I might wait till his next shed and then try the sauna if it’s still there.
