Looking for any tips/experience in teaching proper handling to a 5, 3 and 2 year old. We just got our little guy yesterday evening and he 'belongs' to our 5yr old, but of course the others will be getting in on it.

We have watched some handling videos on YouTube, and had one practice session with the flat-hand, scoop method. We will have more of those sessions coming up.

I haven't gotten to peruse the forums much yet, so I'm still building up the proper knowledge on total set up, etc, so any other thoughts in that area would be welcomed.

    Thanks.

    Hi!
I don't know too much about handling because I still haven't handled mine much.
One thing I do know is, Leopard Geckos get stressed pretty easy, and sometimes it takes them a couple of days to get used to their new environment and shouldn't be handle at all for a week or so.

    Hope this helps.

I have a section in my leopard gecko caresheet (Leopard Gecko Care Sheet | Geckcessories) about observation questions and activities for kids to do with leopard geckos. One note--if you got a young juvenile, they may have to wait till it gets bigger before it can be reliably handled (that's why I have the observation questions).
