    Default Finally, Chito's new house!!

LOG IN TO CLOSE THIS AD

He has been in his new home for a couple months now and he loves it! So much more room for him to roam and climb. He is in the exo terra 36x18x12. He has the new Zilla rock cave for a humid hide, he has eco earth inside which he loves to dig in, the rocks in the back are magnaturals rock ledges both small and medium size. He has a warm side cave and I took the top off his old humid hide to use as his cool side cave. I have zoo meds 39ft heat cable and his CHE hooked up to a vivarium electronics pulse proportional thermostat. Then a few other decorations and of course food and water bowls. I am using porcelain tile substrate. Pics of him in his new home!!

    Many thanks for sharing!

In addition to giving Chito a top-notch enclosure with bells and whistles, you are r-e-s-o-u-r-c-e-f-u-l. Chito may exceed leo longevity records. So far I've heard of 2 females currently alive in their 30s.

I certainly hope so. My goal is not just for him to survive but I want him to thrive. some of my friends think I'm nuts for spending the money I have to make sure he has everything he needs to be happy because "he is just a lizard", but my animals are just as important as my human child and I take care of them as such! Thank you to everyone at Geckos Unlimited for giving tips and advice, you have helped me make informed decisions for my Chito and we couldn't be happier!!

He looks so happy. I love seeing his little head poke out of the cave like, "Hello, are you here to deliver food?"

He is doing great! I’ve been looking for different tiles for him, something that has more grip but can’t find any I like haha.

What CHE/Lamp hood do you use for his tank? Any specific brand for that thermostat? I plan on getting the same 36x18x12 tank for my leo, and I already got the heat cable with a nice discount at work. Do you put anything on the bottom of the tiles?

I have the zoo med 100 watt Che. It’s in a flukers dome lamp. I was using a on off style thermostat but I upgraded to the Vivarium Electronics VE300x2 proportional thermostat. I do not currently have anything under his tiles. I don’t think it would hurt to add a thin layer of play sand under it. I think it would help even out the heating. I’m actually looking into getting two 18x18 tiles and adding the sand under them

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Ok, I'll have to add that to my list. What is the diameter of the dome lamp?

I'd say that only having to clean two tiles would be a breeze so long as they aren't too heavy! Is there a specific thickness of tile needed? Personally, I want zero chance of impaction, so I will just use tile on the bottom of mine.

Also I just love him peeking out at you for food and when he is up at the doors like "hold me!"
