Default I want your opinions on how I should have my Leopard Gecko's Housing (Heat, etc.)

    Hello!
I have recently bought my first leopard Gecko and I have questions on what I should use for heating, substrates, and other things.

Currently, I am using Reptile Carpet for my little guy's substrate. I have two Sheets that I switch off so the other can dry after I clean it. Cleaning it, I soak it in water and use a sponge or my hands to scrape anything off (Fesses or calcium powder) , then hang it up to dry.

I have a warm hide on one side and a cold hide on the other that I double as a wet hide. I use soaked moss as the wet substance. The water bowl is in the middle and I have a little plastic Plant near it.

For Heating, I have a Heat lamp that I have on a timer along with a under tank heater that I mounted on the wall near my gecko's warm hide. I was going to put it under, but I read on the instructions that it was better to put it on the side.

I feed my gecko 5 small crickets every night, covering each one with calcium powder.

I pick up my gecko for a few minutes in the morning.

If there's anything I should do differently, please tell me!
    Thanks!

Well, I would have put the heating pad on the bottom of the tank rather than the side of it actually, unless you happened to have a really thick substrate. Leopard geckos need belly heat.

Having the pad on the side might be okay(?), but hopefully one of the more experienced handlers will chime in.

I would read Elizabeth's Freer's caresheet if you haven't already.

Everything else sounds pretty good to me

    Hello, welcome geckos unlimited.
Geckos need belly heat to digest their food. It's that important. All heating pads should be placed under tank, but a small space should be allowed between bottom of tank and whatever tank sets on.
You'll see your gecko fan out her stomach when heat is coming threw floor.
Please read under general discussion, leopard gecko care sheet by Elizabeth under general discussion. Loads of information pooled togther threw years of trial and error.
