I was planning on providing a leopard gecko with uvb and heard about arcadia shade dweller and was wondering how often it should be replaced? Is it 6 months or a year?

What size is your leo's enclosure? One needs space for an adequate number of hides so your leo can escape from the UVB rays if your leo chooses.

In the USA contact Light Your Reptiles for Arcadia's lighting including ShadeDweller @ 207-588-7210. I'm sure this guy knows.

I haven't bought any of the supplies for a gecko yet, but I'll be sure to add many hides so the gecko can hide

From what I've heard it's a good idea to locate that 12 inch Shade Dweller fixture right above the warm end so your leo is more likely to stick out a leg or other body part for his UVB.

Is there some chance you might be interested in a 36 x 18 x 12 -- something like an Exo Terra?

Even when your leo is getting some UVB Dr. Fran Baines (DVM and lighting guru) recommends using a backup dose of calcium with D3 @ 1 feeding per month.
