Hi there so I have a 40 gallon terrarium for my group of 4 Leo's that I inherited from a dead relative as they knew I own beardies as well just wanted to know what hides would be best for a 40 gallon as the ones the ones they had were thrown out in the trash by that relatives spouse when he died thank you

Welcome to Geckos Unlimited! What a group! 4 leos is a BIG number to keep in a 40 gallon!
    1. Could you create a second layer via a ramp?
    2. How are they heated?
    3. Please share a photo of each leopard gecko.

Here's a care video to get you started.

Do you know the sexes of these leos? It's important to ONLY keep 1 male with the others. 2 males WILL fight. Even 1 male may constantly disturb the females.

Sexing Leopard Geckos -- At about 6 months old a leopard gecko's gender can be confirmed. Males can be distinguished from females by a distinct /\-shaped row of pores above the vent and by two hemipenal bulges below the vent. To see their vents, potential male pores, and hemipenal bulges gently press their bodies up against the glass. They'll squirm if you try to turn them over.

Even with 6 hides, your group probably needs more. Leos need warm DRY hides, warm MOIST hides, and cool dry hides. Hides with small single entrances offer your leos security. I use this Exo Terra hide for my leo.

So the geckos were housed together when my family member had them and they were confirmed to be 3 females with one male for heating I'm using a 60-50 gallon heat mat I believe it's the zoo med one as the petstore I work in doesn't have any exo terra one's the 40 gallon tank is the low but wide 40 gallon exo terra with the measurements 36-18-18 so multiple levels would be a little difficult as for the hides since I'm going to need multiple would it be the smalls or the mediums as for
now IV got four hides in there but I know it's not enough as their old ones from my beardies which I boiled and washed to get any of their scent from

That Exo Terra 36 x 18 x 18 is a great enclosure! Well kept leos can live upwards from 20 - 30 years.

I''m glad you know their sexes!

How long are they? Pictures please.

For heating I suggest covering 1/2 the ground. It's not overkill. By manipulating two 11 x 17 inch Ultratherm heat mats, 2 should fit. Depending upon ambient temps overnight, you may need Ceramic Heat Emitters for warming the air.

It's important for the warm DRY hides as well as the warm MOIST hides to sit on TOP of the heat mat.

I recommend several medium Exo Terra Reptile Cave Natural Hiding Places.

Yes I love the exo terra enclosure IMG_20190526_141304.jpg this is the biggest female while this is the smallest I IMG_20190525_195016.jpg I'm taking your advice and getting those exo terra hides probably around 10-12 also I did take the smallest to the vet yesterday due to some abrasions I noticed and my vet basically told me it's nothing to be concerned about since their in a new tank and the larger female was likely establishing dominance again and this is the set up currently IMG_20190517_171532.jpg I know it needs allot more done to it but that will be fixed asap i was just working with what I had spare from my beardies and thank you for all the help so far
