    Default Thermostat placement advice

LOG IN TO CLOSE THIS AD

    Hey,

Been using a JumpSTART thermostat for my leo's UTH and I have a question regarding the placement of the probe.

At first, I saw the advice that I should place it above the substrate where the leo would be so that it reads the actual surface temperature (which makes sense to me), but I've encountered the problem of the probe being too easy to move around / not staying in place. I definitely don't want my leo to accidentally move it and possibly get a burn, so maybe could those who use similar heating arrangements give advice here? (Preferably people without loose substrates haha!)

    Thank you!

I use metallic duct taping to tape the probe down in place. One on the tile underneath the warm hide and another on top of a slate rock beneath the overhead Arcadia Deep Heat Projector. Seems to work well for me!

I keep my Jump Start thermostat's probe taped to the probe of the digital thermometer that I use to verify the thermostat's setting. Both probes rest on top of textured ceramic tile underneath the warm dry hide. The probes move around a little underneath that hide, but that's no big deal.
