    Red face !!!!!!NEWBIE Gecko Questions!!!!!

    Hi all!

I have a leopard gecko named Peep. I got him as a juvenile last summer and I have a few questions.

    1. Is my gecko considered an adult after 1.5 years?
    2. Can a female gecko lay eggs without a male present?
    3. Do geckos ever stop shedding? Mine sheds about once a month.
    4. Is it okay to go from a 10 gal tank to a 20 gal tank? Or will it stress out Peep?

    Thank you!!!!!

    Hi all!

A warm welcome to you and leo Peep!

    1. Is my gecko considered an adult after 1.5 years?
Yes, at 18 months old a leo is considered an adult and probably nearly fully grown.

    2. Can a female gecko lay eggs without a male present?
Yes, a female leo can develop infertile eggs when housed alone.

    3. Do geckos ever stop shedding? Mine sheds about once a month.
Nope. They shed for life. Leos shed more frequently when they're growing.

    4. Is it okay to go from a 10 gal tank to a 20 gal tank? Or will it stress out Peep?
A 20 gallon long enclosure (30 x 12 x 12 inches tall) is ideal for even a hatchling leo. Leopard geckos can never have too much space. You might consider Exo Terra's 36 x 18 x 12 inch tall enclosure.

For a 20 long I highly recommend an 11 x 17 inch Ultratherm. Those heat mats are tops in the industry.

    Thank you!!!!!
    You're most welcome!
