How much humidity is too much

To help remedy this as he is pale and getting ready to shed I've been trying to keep his regular hide moist. His warm hide is an upside down terracotta pot with a door carved in it. Since Terracotta is porous I placed a moist sponge on the top of the hide (on the outside - he did not want it inside lol). So now his moist hide is dry and ambient humidity of 40% and his dry hide is sitting at 80% humidity - he can get away from the moist air and still maintain proper belly heat.
This keeps the hot spot at 87-88 and the ambient humidity in the hide at 80%. When sitting in wet moss I didn't measure the humidity as the moss was damp. Is 80% too high? Once he finishes shedding I can change things.
I just worry that a) he could get RI issues and b) that his toes won't come clean without stamping around in the moist moss. I shouldn't be so paranoid - this method works great for my ball python, but they can tolerate more humidityNature is the best teacher, learn by observing

why not use a tupperware container with damp paper towels inside? then just keep it over the warm spot thats what i do an they love it.. do not worry about humidity in the hide just the over all humidity but even then bouts of 80% wont hurt em.
