Hi everyone, I was just curious about using the ikea detolf for leopard geckos if I built a lid? I think my three year old would love the space! I was figuring a UTH and an overhead red light to heat the air in such a large enclosure would do the job.

Does anyone see any issues with this idea?

It's an intriguing idea. The 2 things to consider, in my opinion, are whether there's enough "floor" space and whether there's enough ventilation.

Oh, it’s plenty of space for one leo! I would build a screen lid so ventilation shouldn’t be an issue.

Here is the link, I would flip it on it’s side as I’ve seen many hamster owners do.

That makes sense. I thought you were going to leave it upright and have 4 vertical gecko cages.
