Default Thermometer probe location when using heat cable?

    Hi.

I am currently on refurbing my hatchling rack and vivariums. Both of them use heat cable.

This year i had some temperature inconsistencies from the hatchling rack, which im assuming is down to thermostat probe placement. Where should i be placing the probe?

When i built the vivariums out of a bookcase, i didnt take into consideration that heat rises. So the bottom viv will be at 29c but the top one will be at 32c. Is there a best spot for the probe to go which will maybe help?

Im not overly worried about the temperature discrepancy but wondering if it better to have the males or females hotter or colder? Atm i have the males in the bottom 2 vivs.

    Thanks!
