Would going with 18 inches of slate tile on the warm side and 12 inches of repti carepet on the cool side work? and i have a zoo med small under tank heater 6x8 which is for a 20 gallon tank. should i go with 12x12 tiles or 6x6 tiles and just do 4 of them wich would be the same as a 12x12 tile. wich one do you think would heat better with the size of the undertank heater and the red bulb i have?

I have tile across my whole tank and it heats well, I have heard that carpet on the cool side is nice however becaus wit gives them a soft side to lay on. I use 6x6 tiles as well. However, that's just because I didn't find any 12x12's I liked. Either size will work. Make sure they are standard size in thickness of the tile, you don't want them too thick so they won't heat up.
