my female laid 8 eggs 6 of them were fertile the last 2 werent and she laid them on the sand instead of the laying box
i think that she knew they were bad and laid them in the sand to die... if they were aive
but to get to the point has any one ever have this happen?

Yeah, my female SHTB did the same thing. She just laid her eggs on the paper towel, instead of her egg-laying box. They were thin, kinda yellow and sticky!!
All of the eggs she has laid before, where normally burried in the vermiculite of her laying box. So I think your right about them knowing if the eggs are good or not
