Default shivering

My leo seems to be shivering when he walks, he eats just fine, it's very active, but when he walks his legs seems to shiver a bit just before touching the ground. When he runs/walks faster he moves completely normal, this only happens when he walks slowly.

Is this normal or can it be a calcium deficency??? I always keep a calcium dish in his enclosure and I dust a couple of feeders every time I feed. Should I dust all of them???

Any thoughts??

That brings back memories of Gator my third Leo. I bought him from the pet store and he lived for a month and then one day he started shivering. The next day I saw him dead on the floor. I think he had crypto.

Leg shakes are a sign of MBD.

What's your feeding routine, including what you're dusting, how often you feed, and how often you dust.

I just read a little about crypto and he doesn`t have any of the symptoms (regurgitation, liquid feces, thin body/tail)... As I said he looks very healthy, eats well, is very active, is just that he shivers his legs a little when he walks. But only when he walks slowly, just before putting his feet on the ground it seems to shiver that leg a little.

I guess I'll start dusting all the crickets to see if this goes away.

I feed him every other day, he eats 5/6 roaches every feeding, I dust about half the roaches I give him with calcium carbonate, and every 2 feedings I give him vitamins also.

Do you use a calcium without D3 and one with D3?

Leave calcium without D3 in the tank at all times, if you don't.

I always leave calcium without D3 in the tank, but I don't dust with calcium with D3, it only gets D3 from the vitamin supplement, I thought it would be enought. I'll be getting some calcium with D3 right away then, tomorrow he'll be getting some already.

If this is really being caused by some kind of calcium/vitamin defficiency, would it go away with the proper supplementation??? Or would it just stop its progress? I know that in the more severe cases the damage can't be undone (deformities, etc), in his case, would he be OK???

Man, I'm feeling terrible that I might be doing something bad to him....

If all he has are leg shakes then supplementing him the proper way will stop it from getting worse, and make the shakes go away.

Good, as I said, tomorrow I'll give him calcium with D3 already, I hope he'll be OK.

Thanks for the quick help, I really appreciate it.

One of my Leos developed this same symptom recently. We took him to the vet and he thinks its a kidney disorder, the kidneys arent processing the calcium properly. Allways has enough calcium (without d3) in his dish, dust with d3 once or twice a week, otherwise regular calcium, vitamins every other feeding. He is very healthy otherwise, just one day he vomited up his dinner. He is going back to the vet again on December second. I will report back with an update after then.
