Question Sand and UTH

First off, I've heard all the arguments both for and against sand. Please don't start them up here.

Does using a UTH with sand effect how the heat distributes/or how it heats in general?

How so?
I don't think so. I'm currently using sand and the temperatures are fine. I keep my pads plugged into a rheostat so I have to readjust the temps every once in a while, but there's no great difference. it still gets nice and toasty.

I just switched to using sand for the first time, and I didn't know if it changed how things were heated. It's a bit different from repticarpet!! Thanks for your input!

Did you check the temps with a probe after the switch? The depth of the sand will make a difference in how much heat is transfered and how hot it gets. Checking the surface temp with a probe or with a laser temp reader will give you an idea if the temps are any different.

I think sand is pretty good for heat distribution. I don't use it any more though. It is kind of a pain to clean.

Hhmm, when I still used sand as substrate, I'd noticed that the heat is easily conducted (is that good English?, I'm not sure about the word...) true the sand. Regarding the thickness off the sand, it get's quite hot! But sand also cools off more quickly, when you turn off the heat.
Hope I made my experience, regarding this subject, a bit clear!?
Kind regards,

Cindy
