New leopard gecko BLIND??? OMG and Pregnant!!!!
Hi all,
I just bought a bell albino leopard gecko from a reptile expo in my state. I didnt realize until I got her home that her eyes are very strange and I think she may be blind, I have tried waving my hand in front of her face but she doesn't respond and she steps on my other gecko as if she doesn't see him. Pictures of her eyes are below, this is what they look like all the time, even in the dark or red light or day light.
SN: She does close her eyes in the bright sun light when I first looked at her, her eyes stayed closed the entire time.
I currently do not know anything about her eating since I just got her and I know she wont eat for a while until she gets use to her new environment.
OMG another thing, I just found out she is pregnant, I did not know when I bought her. the guy I bought her from said he fed her alot of super worms and that is why she is fat but I looked online and she does have two eggs inside of her. PLEASE HELP! I have no idea how to take care of a pregnant leopard gecko, I think she may give birth soon because she is digging like crazy!

If she is really gravid then bump up her calcium intake a bit and let her lay those eggs. It's important that they come out so that she doesn't get egg bound. Give her as little stress as possible. Let her lay them and then decide if you want to incubate the eggs. They may be duds as well, but there is just no telling.
About the eyes, I believe that's an eclipse trait. She's probably not blind but is probably very sensitive to light. My two leos that are housed together walk all over each other all of the time. I think that's just normal. They way the doctor showed me to test for blindness in eyes (I have one leo that is blind in one eye) is take her into a dark room and bring a flash light with you. After a few minuets turn the flash light on and show it across the eye. Not directly in the eye!! If you see her pupils constrict when the light is shown across her eye, then she isn't blind.

Thank you for the blind test, I am wondering if she is pregnant now, because although she has white areas under her belly idk if those are actually eggs or just her insides. Can you tell me if they will feel like eggs or will it be smooth???
Thanks!

And thank you for the blind test, I did it and when I turned on the light the blackness in her eyes covered her entire eye so I guess she is not blind YAY!! ^_^

Eggs do not feel different from the outside, but it is extremely important that you provide a humid lay box just in case!! and, as kelly said, they do walk all over each other, it is normal, do the blind test, hehehe, I just tried moving my hand in front of one of my leos and she paid no attention to it, remember all al binos are very sensitive to light, thatīs why they close their eyes in bright sunlight! regarding pregnancy, can you get a picture of you girlīs belly?? We could tell you if she is pregnant immediatelly by looking at a picture...

It's good to hear that she's not blind. I agree that a picture of her belly would really help us out. We would be able to tell for sure if she's gravid.
Another thing: I just realized that you're in MI too! Did you go to the Taylor show yesterday? How was it? I wanted to go but ended up not going! I knew that if I went I would have ended up getting another animal and I don't need more! I have 3 more on the way in the spring already!!

Wow! you live in MI too! yes that is where I got her, she was $50, only problem I had was that she was freezing when I got her, and for some reason she would open her mouth really wide and not shut it, but the guy said it was just because she was stressed from the light.
But, it was good, I was looking for a tegu as well, but unfortunately they only had an adult one. lol
Anywho, here is a picture of her belly, the best I could get anyway.

A bit difficult to see there :S there is something there but I canīt tell for sure... the lighting is not good.... the angle of the picture is good, just need to have a better lightning
regarding the open mouth, yes, they do that when they are EXTREMELY stressed, poor little thing, maybe she just needs a little time to relax and get used to her new home, I would put a laying box in there just in case, if there are eggs you donīt want her retaining them, just put a shallow tupper with wet/moist loose substrate (ideally vermiculite, but if you canīt get it you can just put earth or wet sand, something for her to dig in, at least one inch deep), keep us posted
