Default dented eggs

after incubating for 45 days my eggs dented. They have been dented for 4 days now. 1 was so flat that i snipped it open only to discover a very small gecko. I had a short power outage at my house. could the eggs have died that fast ? or could the other egg still be ok even with the denting?

THey could certainly be alive even though dented. I never consider an egg a loss unless it's actually started to rot or otherwise 100% proven to be no good. You'd be surprised how many times I've had what I thought was a bad egg hatch out. Often, a dented egg just needs some more humidity. The best thing to do is transfer it into a fresh deli cup with fresh perlite/vermiculite:water mix.

Incubate until either it molds or deflate. Don't give up on an egg until you are sure it's no good.

Even moldy eggs are not always bad. Mold can be an issue of too much humidity and often can be gently wiped off and placed on dryer media. It's pretty easy to tell when an egg has truly gone bad.

the egg i snipped open was totally flat. I shone the light through and it was clear. so i assumed it was an unfertile egg as it was 2 xs bigger then the clutchmate egg. the gecko inside was not ready to hatch yet so i dont know if it had died or if i killed it by opening it? my remaining egg seems to have inflated again but it was just dented a little not totally collapsed.

You may have waited too long to do anything with the one you cut open. If it's dented due to humidity, it's important that you make your changes quickly. Eggs aren't always a "set i and forget it" proposition. They require care. Good luck with hatching the other out though. Glad to hear that it seems to be doing better

We need to remember also that an egg that is ready to hatch can dent. Its good to know when the egg is due to hatch so we are not snipping into it. Like the others said, if it rots/stinks or turns to liquid then its a gonner. Other wise keep it cookin.
