My heatpad on my 10 gallon (for future male leo) is 103 degrees, much to hot. I am trying small pieces of cardboard to "bypass" the heat?
Any suggestions WITHOUT a rheostat or thermostat, i can reduce the heat?
If not i will get a rheostat.
Good that you're tweaking the temps prior to adding the leo .
(Your leo could be much happier in a 20 gallon LONG tank with an UTH which occupies about 1/3 the length of the tank! No more upgrades...and a great habitat for life. Sometimes well cared for leos can live into their 20s.)
Number of sockets has nothing to do with anything...you only need one. Just plug a power strip into it and you have as many sockets (and devices) as you need. What you have to be careful of is how many watts can the thermostat handle. As long as you don't go over said wattage, you can plug as many devices into it as you want.
Just curious, RR: Do you see anything in the Hydrofarm link you shared about the maximum wattage? The BAH model says 1,000 watts.
thanks, i am getting a 20L and putting 2 females into wit 5/6 hides...
the male will live in the 10, unless i get a cheap 20
Then your UTH might need upgrading? The regular UTH size for a 10-20 gallon tank is not for the length of a 20 gallon long: 30 inches. UTH should cover 1/3 of the tank's bottom.
Yes, another snippet of sharing:
Sometimes PetCo has a $1 per gallon sale on tanks. Heard that not every PetCo does this, but it IS worth calling any local PetCo to inquire.
