Default "Just" a normal. :)

Hi! I've been holding out since July, and last night I finally picked up my little guy. I had it out a bit with the pet store employee who threatened not to sell me the gecko unless I bought a UV lamp but I eventually won the argument and got to bring the little guy home.

He's getting settled in privacy at the moment, but I did snap one picture before leaving him to get adjusted.

I've seen him out and about several times already, so he doesn't appear to be unduly stressed by the change in environment. I've got some crickets eating up their gutload since last night and in a bit I'll see if he's hungry!

Hello,

I must say that is the first time I have heard they won't sell you a gecko unless you buy a UVB bulb Congrats on your new lively looking gecko.
I am not sure if this is your first gecko, but I'm providing you with a link to GU's caresheet so that you can compare your husbandry. Enjoy your gecko and pictures are always welcomed

Cute little bugger. I know I'm likely in a tiny minority, but I prefer the normal leos to any of the morphs I've seen.

There's no such thing as "Just a Normal", Normals are sooooooooooooo beautiful. I have more Normals than any other Morph, They're all different and all totally gorgeous

Congrats on your new leopard gecko. It's not just a normal, it's a very cute normal.

I don't know how old he is, though I do know that he's been at the store for three weeks or so. I was pleased by the way the store keeps them...no loose substrate, plety of hiding spots, cozy looking moist hide, etc.

The "Just" a normal was meant to be in jest, I think the normals are lovely, and he's no exception.

I've been getting his setup prepared for about three weeks, and that care sheet has been very valuable. He's got a 20L with paper towel substrate, a UTH on a thermostat holding steady at 92F on the warm side, two hides on the warm side, two on the cool side, a moist hide, water dish, calcium dish, and a probe thermometer to double check my thermostat.

Today he gobbled up half a dozen crickets, much to my delight. He's so bold! I'm used to snakes that spend a week or so hiding before I get to see much of them, but Rango's not shy at all!

I wanted to post a quick update: Rango is doing great! He's chowing down on crickets and mealies, very active in the evenings, and his color is brightening dramatically!

Since I only have access to G. assimilis crickets, he eats them in a separate container. Here he is after a meal.
