Default Bloated gecko. I REALLY need help!

I am 16 years old, and my mom refuses to take my one year old Leopard Gecko to the vet.

About a month ago, i started feeding my perfectly healthy leopard gecko ONLY wax worms, because he loved them so much. i did not know that they were fatty and not good for a stable diet and after two weeks on only eating wax worms, he became very bloated and stopped eating all together! i tried feeding him crickets again, but he won't eat. he hasn't pooped in a while, and i'm not sure if he's impacted or just empty, from not eating.

Honestly, i do not know if my leo, Happy, is a boy or a girl. i read that some females can have infertile eggs, and i'm not sure if that's the problem. Could Happy be impacted? or just fat?

the other day he shed his skin and it wasn't as white as normal... it was more clearish. i was wondering if that's because he needs calcium from food or crickets.

i'm planning on bathing him in warm water today, to see if that helps.

I really need an answer! i love him very much, but a vet's trip is out of the option. :'( what can i do to make him better again?

A month of waxworms won't bloat your leo to death, it's just not suggested as a primary long term diet. I have a 12 year old male that eats 1/4 crickets, 3/4 meal worms and has his whole life.
You really need to get it to a vet if you can. But if you absolutely can not you have to go over all of your current care and figure out if there is something you are doing wrong. How long have you had it? What temp are you keeping it at? Humidity? Can it get to a hide? Etc.
It is possible it is a female that is gravid and about to lay as many will stop eating a few days before laying, but it also possible something else is going on. Checking all aspects of care is your first step. And a photo of it's abdomen might help others determine for you if it is in fact gravid and not just bloated.

I would reccomend feeding it crickets dusted with calcium supplements, soon after the bloating has stopped. That's most likely the reason why his skin is clear, rather than its natural white. do that and it should be fine. REMEMBER: If your leo refuses toeat the crickets, remove them from its tank. if not removed, they will stress out your gecko.

Pictures speak a thousand words...
Try to get pictures of his belly so people can help.
What size is his tank? What temps? What subtrate are you using? Is there a moist hide? Do you have a dish of 100% pure calcium available for him? Have you been dusting the crickets or waxworms with phosperous free calcium with D3?

Dont feed him waxworms. Stick to the ctickets. If you want to give a treat sometimes go with silk worms or horn worms.
Mealworms and superworms are ok too.

My gecko passed away today. I'm pretty sure he had reovirus or some sort of internal parasite. :'( RIP little Happy <3

I'm so so very sorry for your loss. I feel so sad about it. And I hope that in the wake of your tragedy that your post helps someone else. After reading this I know I will take my Geckos to the vet at the first sign of something wrong. And I'm sure your Happy had a wonderful life with you and loved you very much.
