Exclamation Leopard Gecko wasting away with blue feet??

Hey guys and gals,

I'm hoping you can help me... We've had a leopard gecko (Amadeus) for a little over a year now. Within the last month or two has slowed his intake of food, eating less each time. Now he hardly eats. We try to hand feed him, and that works most of the time, but he refuses to touch crickets or mealworms (alive or dead).

His tail is pencil thin almost, and he is sort of limping... Not like he has a broken bone at all, but like he can't support himself. He is so thin. Also, his feet are blue.... They never were before.

It has been colder here lately, but he has a heat lamp as well as a thermal pad thing under his tank, and a heating rock. His enclosure is big enough, but not huge. He has a log home he can climb on and used to all the time. We change his water on a regular basis also.

Essentially, other than it being a little more cold lately, everything is the exact same. Does anyone have any advice? I'm really worried, and my six-year-old spends a lot of his time just watching Amadeus, hoping he becomes more active and stops sleeping all the time.

Thank you.

Hello,

The best advice I can personally give you is, Take him to the vet ASAP! Blue feet can be an indication of loss of circulation and/or necrosis unless he is housed on blue sand. Remove the heat rock right away as it can cause burns. It's possible that he is not eating due to pain or infection. I will provide a link with a caresheet you can read over to make sure at least all the requirements necessary are being met. Please make sure he is seen quickly by a reptile veterinarian. Good luck and please keep us informed. If you have any questions that are not answered below feel free to ask

Please follow cricket4u's advice and carefully read the care sheet she linked.

Please give us a visual by posting a picture of him right here.

What are his temperatures? Amadeus should have a warm area between 92-95 F down to a cooler area in the 70 F. Leos depend upon belly heat and proper air temperatures for digestion. If those temperatures are not met, the leo will whither away.

What supplements have you been giving him? Check the care sheet right away for complete advice.

Leos are nocturnal (and so are many geckophiles). It is usual for leos to spend the day sleeping.
